Katchyn Burmese

The KATCHYN Prefix was registered with the GCCF in 1978

We are Judy and Emma mother and daughter.  We are lucky enough to live in rural Worcestershire and have plenty of room for cats.  All of our kittens are registered with the GCCF.  They are all vaccinated and insured when they leave us.  Our babies are brought up in a family home and are exposed to all the comings and goings of a busy family including our dogs Sam and Molly.  They are also all very loved and are used to lots of cuddles.

Our First Burmese

CamayRomanyWe owned our first Burmese in 1977, a beautiful Chocolate Burmese girl born 31st March 1978 called Camay (Kanzan Chocolate Camay, right) bred by Queenie Barker.  As a kitten she did very well on the show bench but as she matured it became clear that she had a overshot jaw and so she had to be spayed.  She was a much loved member of the family and tragically died at the age of 15 from slug bait poisoning.

RomanyRomany arrived in late ‘78 (Champion Kanzan Red Romance, right) born 9th September 1978.  She had a glittering show career and brought us an immense amount of pleasure but once again breeding from her was not meant to be.  She had problems calling and only ever called two or three times in her life.  She sadly died at the age of twelve.

PansyFinally we had Pansy (Kanzan Fancy Pancy) a Brown Tortie born on 28th March 1982.  She was a sweet natured cat and to our joy gave us the litter of kittens we had waited so long for.  Unfortunately she had to have a caesarian and was consequently spayed.  She was tragically run over at the age of six which broke our hearts.

Pansy had 4 kittens who were unfortunatly all boys. We did keep two of her kittens, cream boys, as pets called Bill and Ben (Katchyn Cream Cracker and Katchyn Cream Caramel). They lived a long and contented life and died of old age a few months apart at the age of 16.

We were now Burmese-less!

CatCatWe decided to remedy this by becoming the proud owners of Chloe (Amorcatz Fairygodmother, left) and Dilly (Janzanco Dilly Daydream, right) this is where it all started!

Breeding and showing burmese is an expensive but extremely enjoyable hobby.  We have enjoyed great success with Katchyn Burmese and have made many great friends in the cat fancy.
